Its capable of extracting the very best from top class MC cartridges, but look further down the scale to the 309 Magnesium, and the comparison is NOT a night and day one IMHO. Whilst its a very good tonearm, its also very expensive, so it depends what you intend partnering it with. A top class 3009 sells for £200 or more, which seems a lot for the performance.įor the newer versions, as has already been said, if funds are not an issue, the V is the one most would go for. trouble with the old versions v's newer models (M series etc) is price. the later versions (improved series) seem to be the most popular and the metal bearing versions are arguably better than the nylon bearing version. If you're after one of the older arms (3009 etc) they did several versions. All I would say, having owned a few is there are a few things to consider in price V's performance.
